The loyalty can be expressed explicitly or implicitly. Examples of direct expression or citing the Chinese loyalists belong to the explicit embodiment, and can be easily found in other prisoners of war's diaries. The implicit embodiment refers to describing in detail how the writers experienced such events regarded as an expression of loyalty.
Examples of implicit embodiment include details of 'battle situations', 'suicide attempts', 'escape attempts' and 'enemy's movements and countermeasures'. Kwon's 'suicide attempts and escape attempts were described more minutely. Detail report of the enemy's movements and countermeasures could be founded in the other diaries. The battle situations was described in detail only in the 『Hoguilrok』. It could be because only Kwon had the army in his area.
