생활세계와 생활도시 -신뢰와 확신의 구별을 통한 인문학적 접근 = Life World and Life City: a Humanistic Approach by Distinction between Trust and Confidence

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글은 한국 수도권의 행정구역 개편 논의에서 자주 언급되는 ‘생활권’에 대해 도시인문학의 관점에서 접근해보려는 하나의 시도이다. 철학과 사회학에서 20세기 초부터 사용되어온 ‘생활세계’ 개념을 오늘날의 도시 생활에 적용함으로써, 행정구역 개편과 생활권계획에 대한 새로운 접근방법을 찾아보고자 한다. 생활세계 개념의 철학적 기초를 마련한 것은 후설의 현상학이지만, 그의 “주관적-상대적” 생활세계 개념에만 의존할 경우 도시의 생활권을 지나치게 다양하게 파악하게 될 것이다. 그래서 이 글은 후설의 생활세계 개념 속에 들어있는 자기모순, 모호함, 다의성 등을 극복하기 위해 ‘친숙한/친숙하지 않은’ 구별과 재진입 개념을 사용한 루만의 생활세계 개념을 주로 참조할 것이다. 특히 루만이 도입한 신뢰와 확신의 구별을 참고하여 한국 대도시 주민들의 기대 양상 변화를 살펴볼 것이다. 그리고 생활도시의 관점에서 볼 때 신뢰의 자치와 확신의 행정이라는 두 가지 지평을 구별할 필요가 있음을 밝힐 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article is an attempt to explain the concept of living area or neighborhood unit, which is often mentioned in discussions of administrative region reorganization in the Korean capital metropolitan area, from the perspective of urban humanities. By applying the concept of the “life world(Lebenswelt)”, which has been used in philosophy and sociology since the early 20th century, to today’s urban life, I will find a new approach to the urban living area. Although Husserl’s phenomenology laid the philosophical foundation for the concept of life world, relying on his “subjective-relative” concept of life world would lead to an overly diverse understanding of urban living areas. Therefore, this article will mainly refer to Luhmann’s concept of life world, which uses the familiar/unfamiliar distinction and the concept of re-entry to overcome the ambiguity in Husserl’s concept of life world. In particular, the distinction between trust and confidence introduced by Luhmann will be used to examine the changing mode of expectations of Korean urban residents. I will also show that from a life city perspective, it is necessary to distinguish between two horizons: the self-government of trust and the administration of confidence.
