남자 대학생의 성적 공격성과 적대감, 과잉 남성성, 공감의 관계 = Relationship of Sexual Aggression and Hostility, Hypermasculinity, Empathy in Male University Student

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 "Confluence 모형"에 근거하여 남성의 성적 공격성, 적대감, 과잉 남성성, 공감의 관계에 대해 살펴보았다. 연구 참여자는 총 355명으로서 남자 대학생을 대상으로 하였으며 SCL-90-R, 과잉 남성성 척도(Hypermasculinity scale), 공감척도(Empathy scale), 성적 경험질문지(Sexual Experience Survey)로 구성된 자기 보고식 질문지를 실시하였다. 그 결과, 적대감과 과잉 남성성은 성적 공격성과 유의한 정적 상관이 있었으며 공감은 부적 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 과잉 남성성은 적대감과 성적 공격성 간의 관계를 매개하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 기존에 지니고 있던 타인에 대한 적대감이 이후의 과잉 남성성의 상승으로 이어지고 이를 통해 성적 공격성에 영향을 미친다는 것을 의미한다. 그러나 과잉 남성성의 영향을 통제하고 난 후에도 성적 공격성에 대한 적대감의 직접 효과가 여전히 유의하여 과잉 남성성은 부분 매개효과를 나타내고 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 공감은 과잉 남성성과 성적 공격성의 관계에서 중재 변인으로 작용하고 있음이 확인되었다. 즉, 동일한 수준의 과잉 남성성을 지니고 있는 사람일지라도 공감 능력이 높은 사람의 경우 공감 능력이 낮은 사람에 비해 성적 공격성이 낮음을 알 수 있으며 이를 통해 공감은 성적 공격성의 표출에 있어서 완충(buffer) 역할로 작용하고 있음이 확인되었다. 본 연구의 결과를 통해 남성의 성적 공격성에 대한 "Confluence 모형"의 이론적 근거를 재차 확인하는 계기가 되었다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 시사점과 제한점, 후속연구를 위한 제언에 대해 논의하였다.

This paper presents relationship of sexual aggression and hostility, hypermasculinity, empathy in male university student using "Confluence Model". For our study 355 male college students were joined as experimenet group. They made self report questionnaire that is composed of SCL-90-R, hypermasculinity, empathy scale, sexual experience survey. The results of Confluence model analysis suggest that hostility and hypermasculinity have signigicant positive correlation with sexual aggression while empathy has negative correlation. Specifically hpermasculinity mediated the relation between hostility and sexual aggression. This means that the inherent hostility to others escalates hypermasculinity, and it effects on sexual aggression. However, after the effect of hypermasculinity was controlled, direct effect of hostility on sexual aggression is significant. It shows that hypermasculinity has partial mediating effect on sexual aggression. Empathy operated moderating effect as the relation between hypermasculinity and sexual aggression. Among the equal strength of hypermasculinities, someone who has high ability of empathy has less week sexual aggression than others. This advocates that empathy operates as a buffer in exhibition of sexual aggression. The theoretical ground of "Confluence Model" for sexual aggression of male was confirmed again in this study. The suggestion and limitation of this study, and future study to be need was discussed finally.
