The purpose of this study is to analyze the types of multipurpose space and space applications of the modernized elementary schools. The results of this analysis indicate the followings: 1) According to the result in utilization, school furniture occupies 9%~25% of multipurpose space. 2) The more multipurpose space depth is to be large, a number and kind of school furniture is rich, the more use of multipurpose space is high. 3) In a questionnaire research, evaluations of facilities at large express their satisfaction. But evaluations of open education are negative. In evaluations of the multipurpose space, noise is the most negative problem. Therefore teachers demand for fixed wall instead of movable partition between multipurpose space and classroom.
