Result from comparing the site indices of Cryptomeria japonica and Chamaecyparis obtusa calculated by the Burce method.
1. Among them, the model of H=aT^becT was evaluated to be best fit for estimating average tree height(H) with tree age(T).
2. Equations, InH=1.0223+0.10181nT-3.8125^1/T and InT=1.0052+0.1129InT-3.26871/T were situated form the model for estimating average tree height of Cryptomeria japonica and Chamaecyparis obtusa.
3. Site indices of Cryptomeria japonica were higher than those of Chamaecyparis obtusa up to the site index classes of 4 and 6, however, the relationship was reversed each other when the site index classes were increased to over 8 and 10.
Considering the site indices obtained, the nutritional requirement of Chamaecyparis obtusa was found to be higher than that of Cryptomeria japonica. Under the circumstance, it is recommendable to grow Chamaecyparis obtusa in relatively fertile soil and Cryptomeria japonica in lower fertile soil.
The critical value for choosing the site was considered to be site index class 8.
