This study is about improving creative English vocabulary among Korean college students through comparing and contrasting English words. Although it is important to simply memorize the meaning of English words and use them in sentences, creative English learning is encouraged as learners expand the meaning by discovering the structural concepts and structural systems of English words through comparison and contrast. While 443 college students were taking a required liberal arts course, they were asked to select 4 to 6 words from a given text each week and compare and contrast English words as an assignment. As the students performed the assignment, it was interesting and they were able to confirm that their English vocabulary was expanding. The research results exceeded expectations and enabled English learners to expand the meaning of English words and to discover the structural concepts and structural systems of given English words on their own. Rather than simply memorizing the meaning of English and passively understanding it, I was able to discover my own concept and composition system through comparison and contrast, thereby discovering meaning beyond the dictionary meaning and expanding the concept and system of English words.
