군사적 질서에서 공동체적 조화로: 유가 윤리의 도시 정체성 재구성 = Reimagining Military Cities: Confucian Ethics and the Shift from Control to Communal Harmony

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 군사문화 도시의 평화적 전환을 위해 유가 철학의 윤리적 가치를 어떻게 적용할 수 있는지에 대해 탐구한다. 군사적 질서와 유가적 조화의 접점을 상호 보완적 관계로 이해하고, 군사문화 도시에서 유가 철학의 평화관은 군사적 통제와 위계질서의 강압적 특성을 완화하고, 다양한 사회 구성원이 존중받고 협력할 수 있는 구조로 전환하는 데 중요한 윤리적 기초를 제공한다.
유가 철학의 적용을 통해 군사적 유산의 재해석, 대동사회(大同社會)의 이념에 기반한 공공 공간의 조성, 윤리 교육을 통한 공동체 의식의 재생, 군사적 행사에서 평화 축제로의 전환, 그리고 대동사회로 가기 위한 화이부동(和而不同)의 원리 적용 등을 논의하였다. 이러한 접근은 도시 공동체가 단순한 물리적 재생을 넘어 윤리적·문화적 재생을 통해 지속 가능한 형태로 발전할 수 있도록 하며, 궁극적으로 도시 정체성의 재구성과 공동체적 가치를 강화하는 데 기여할 것이다.

This article examines how Confucian ethical values can be applied to the peaceful transformation of military culture cities. Rather than viewing military order and Confucian harmony as inherently oppositional, it highlights their potential for a complementary relationship. By reinterpreting military heritage through a Confucian lens, the study seeks to reconstruct the identity of military culture cities in a way that is peaceful, inclusive, and sustainable. Confucian ideals of peace offer a valuable ethical foundation for softening the coercive and hierarchical dimensions of military structures, enabling a transition toward more participatory and respectful civic cultures.
Key strategies include the reinterpretation of military legacies, the creation of public spaces inspired by the ideal of the Great Unity (大同社會), the revitalization of communal consciousness through ethical education, the transformation of military ceremonies into peace-oriented festivals, and the application of the principle of “harmony without uniformity” (和而不同). These approaches facilitate not only physical regeneration but also ethical and cultural renewal, ultimately contributing to a reimagining of urban identity and the strengthening of shared communal values.
