중국 1950년대 ‘가사노동’ 담론과 사회주의 건설 = China’s 1950s Housework Discourse and Construction of Socialism

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

After the establishment of New China, the government attempted to change the housework area publicly for the socialization of housework, by posing the women’s social participation as a premise for the liberation of women. The relevant discussions were mostly developed in People’s Daily, which shows the Chinese government’s change in the perception of housework, and its implied meanings. The policies and theories related to housework have been continuously adjusted following the Chinese government’s policy, and there were also continuous changes in the practical direction of feminist movement. Due to the inconsistent attitude of the state, the women were confused about accepting the policies, which was led to their dissatisfaction.
Ru Zhijuan’s Come true as you wish(如願) with the background of Great Leap Period, is a short story focusing on a mother-son relationship. As an old mother participates in group production work, a conflict with her son is formed. Eventually, the son who starts recognizing his mother as a subject of labor reconciles with his mother. This work shows how the norms and experiences of women are represented in a literary work under the historical background of construction of socialism. This work describes the collision of two values such as ‘maternal instinct’ and ‘construction of socialism through labor’ required by society of the time. The conflict and collision between ‘maternal instinct’ and ‘construction of socialism through labor’ represented as son and mother, are resolved when the mother keeps her word to buy her son an apple 25 years ago. However, its conclusion in the narrative summary is not the natural end following the narrative flow of the work, but to create the end suitable for the values required by society of the time.
