The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the self-selected career-reading program (SCRP-H) on the career self-efficacy of high school students. To achieve the objectives of this study, the following hypotheses were formulated. First, the self-selected career-reading program will have a significant effect on the career self-efficacy of general high school students. Second, the self-selected career-reading program will have a significant effect on the subarea of career self-efficacy of general high school students. Of the two classes studied, one class comprising 28 students was designated as the experimental group, while the other served as the control group. The results of the pre-test were confirmed to be homogeneous between the two groups through an independent t-test. The self-selected career-reading program was conducted to the experimental group twice a week over four weeks, while the control group received no intervention. After the end of the program, a post-test was conducted on the two groups. The statistical analysis of the collected data was performed with ANCOVA. The findings of the study are presented as follows. First, the self-selected career-reading program showed a significant improvement in career self-efficacy of general high school students. Second, the self-selected career-reading program showed significant improvement in career search efficacy, career decision efficacy, and career performance efficacy, which are subareas of the career self-efficacy of general high school students. The self-selected career-reading program is effective in the career self-efficacy and subareas of high school students.
