The feasibility of fast-neutron production from the
$p$($^7$Li,$n$)$^7$Be reaction at 2.26 MeV/u has been studied. An
intense Li-ion beam is produced by using a superconducting ECR ion
source. The beam is then delivered to a linear accelerator column to
reach the energy of 2.26 MeV/u at where the neutron-production
crosssection peaked. The fast neutron flux was estimated to be 5.2$\times$10$^{13}$ /s at a $^7$Li$^{+3}$ beam current of 1 mA.\\
