국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 생활협동조합이 지역에서 성공적으로 정착하기 위해 어떠한 프레임 전략을 가지고 있는지 분석하였다. 연구방법으로는 생협에 종사하는 이사, 활동가, 조합원을 중심으로 심층면접을 실시하였다. 심층면접을 통해 나타난 생협의 프레임 전략은 생태공동체 프레임, 사업 다변화 프레임, 사회적 경제프레임으로 분석되었다. 생태공동체 프레임은 농촌 및 도시의 도·농 생태 공동체를 통해 새로운 생태환경을 조성하는데 있다. 이는 생태계 파괴를 최소화하고 생산에 대한 윤리적 가치를 부여함으로써 정직한 소비를 조장하였다. 그러나 단순히 친환경 먹거리에 대한 주민들의 인식이 일반화됨으로써 생협은 지역 생활변화를 유도하는 사회운동으로서 역할을 하게 된다. 이는 곧 지역사회의 선순환의 역할을 생협에 부여함으로써 사회적 경제 프레임의 전략으로 나타나게 된다. 즉 친환경 농산물 및 윤리적 소비를 넘어 육아 및 의료생협 등 다양한 사회서비스 영역에 활동함으로써 생협이 지역을 재생하는 프레임전략을 수립한 것으로 나타났다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The theory of Frame has been used as a powerful foundation to interpret social movements. This study focused on the frames that enabled to sustain the co-op in Korea during recent three decades. The purpose of the study is to find which social movement frames were evidenced in order for the Korean co-op to be settled successfully. The researcher had intensive interviews with three different groups who are involved in co-op; five directors, seven activists, and 9 active members of co-op. The results of the interviews indicated that there are three major frames that had evolved. Since 1998, "Ecological Community Frame" played a significant role in enlightening the importance of ecology. Examples of this movement include, but are not limited to reducing destruction of ecology, valuing the labor of product, and encouraging honest trades. Later the frame has been moved to "Diversifying Services Frame." During early 2000, the co-op adopted various services that are beyond the activities of the "Ecological Community Frame" such as parenting, medical services, and other social services. Around 2010, co-op has become to play a role of revitalizing a society, so called "Societal Economy Frame."
