위조와 예술 존재론 = The Problem of Forgery and The Ontology of Arts

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Our experience of arts are affected by ontological facts of works of arts. That's why we are concerned about the uniqueness of a work of art instead of reproductions or imitations. Arts is divided into two categories; first unique arts which is based upon authenticity and second multiple arts which allow reproduction and imitation. The latter such as music and literature don't attach great importance to physical uniqueness, since not the manuscripts of musical pieces of composers but their performances play a great role to give us some aesthetical experience. The ontological scheme such as types and tokens can be applied correctly in this case. But since we live in the age of technological advance, it seems that there are a lot of examples which give a threat to the uniqueness of unique arts. If the forgery is perfect as much as the original work of arts is or some paintings produced in the style of a great artist are superior to the original works in terms of aesthetic qualities, do we have to accept their status as works of arts? There are different types of opinions according to emphasis either to historical qualities or aesthetical qualities. In this article I will try to examine how the ontology of arts could be extended considering some arguments which allowed imitations to be regarded as works of arts.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

우리의 예술 경험은 예술 작품의 존재론적 사실들에 의해서 영향을 받는다. 이 때문에 우리는 모방품들이나 복제품들보다는 한 작품의 유일성에 집작하게 된다. 그러나 예술은 원본성을 중시여기는 단수예술과 복제나 모방을 허용하는 복수예술로 구분할 수 있다. 음악이나 문학과 같은 복수예술은 작품의 물리적 유일성은 그렇게 중요하지 평가되지 않는다. 작곡가의 작품의 수사본보다는 그 연주가 우리의 미학적 경험에 영향을 미치기 때문이다. 이 경우에 유형과 개별사례의 존재론적 도식이 적용될 수 있다. 그러나 기술문명이 발전하면서 서서히 단수예술에서도 그 유일성에 대한 도전이 일어나고 있다. 만약에 위조품이 원본과 완벽할 정도로 동일하다면 또는 대가의 동일한 양식을 통해서 그려진 작품이 원래 작품들보다 훨씬 더 탁월한 미학적 성질들을 가지게 된다면, 그것들은 예술작품으로 평가받을 수 있을까? 역사적 성질과 미학적 성질들 중에서 어떤 것을 강조하는가에 따라 그 입장이 뒤바뀔 수 있다. 이 논문에서 연구자는 모방품들의 예술적 지위를 허용하는 논증들을 살펴보면서 예술 존재론이 어떻게 확장될 수 있는지를 살펴볼 것이다.
