The purpose of this study is to investigate the lexical perspective and cognitive structures associated with the Korean temperature adjectives ‘ttukepta/chakapta’ as well as the cognitive aspects perceived by the Korean linguistic community. To achieve this, the study adopts a cognitive semantics perspective, including the theoretical framework of lexical concepts and cognitive models(LCCM) as proposed by Evans(2009, 2013, 2015), and examines the semantic aspects of ‘ttukepta/chakapta’ to identify underlying meaning patterns. Additionally, this research aims to systematically analyze the cognitive structures perceived by the Korean linguistic community by exploring the pathways of semantic realization through the analysis of corpus data based on cognitive foundations. Through this study, the research scope of temperature adjectives using cognitive semantics can be significantly expanded. By incorporating recent research trends that utilize lexical concepts and cognitive models(LCCM), this study reconsiders the direction of existing cognitive semantics and uncovers the meaning models and cognitive structures encoded by the Korean linguistic community through the temperature adjective ‘ttukepta/chakapta’. It is expected that this will stimulate productive subsequent research and facilitate the emergence of diverse perspectives.
