대한민국 청년자살 예방을 위한 종교학의 인문학적 가치와 실용적 활용방안 연구 = A Study on the Humanistic Values of Religious Studies and Practical Utilization Plans for Prevention of Youth Suicide in Korea

국문 초록 (Abstract)

현재 대한민국 청년자살과 고립 문제는 아주 심각한 수준이다. 자살률은 OECD국가들 평균의 2배 이상이 될 정도로 압도적인 세계 1위이다. 본 연구는 이런 현실에 대한 위기의식으로 청년자살 문제의 해결을 위한 인문학적 해법을 제시하려고 한다. 그중에서도 각 문화권의 종교적 성현들이 제시하는 가르침과 그것을 공유하는 공동체의 연결 맺음이 현재 청년들이 느끼는 고립감, 단절감, 그리고 자살충동을 억제하고 완화하고 해결하는 데 큰 도움이 될 수 있음을 주장한다. 먼저 정부의 여러 통계자료를 바탕으로 청년문제의 실상과 심각성을 알아보고, 정부가 추진하는 여러 정책을 살펴본다. 그리고 청년자살 예방을 위한 관련 논문과 자료를 검토해본다. 그런 후 세계의 다양한 종교에서 어떤 사상을 공유하고, 어떤 방식으로 공동체가 일체감을 느끼는지를 살펴본다. 그럼으로써 종교적 가르침이 현시대에 맞지 않는 진부한 사상이 아니라, 얼마든지 삶의 의미를 찾지 못해 방황하는 청년들에게 자기의 삶과 세계를 새롭게 바라볼 수 있는 가치를 제공할 수 있음을 제기한다. 그리하여 인문학 내에서도 학문의 정체성을 제대로 인정받지 못하는 종교학이 실용적 죽음교육 방안을 통해 새롭게 학문적 가치를 인정받을 수 있음을 제언한다.

Currently, the problem of youth suicide and isolation in Korea is at a severe level. The suicide rate is overwhelmingly the highest in the world, more than twice the average of OECD countries. This study seeks to present a humanistic solution to the problem of youth suicide with a sense of crisis regarding this reality. Among them, it is argued that the teachings given by religious saints of each culture and the connection to the community that shares them can be of great help in suppressing, alleviating, and resolving the sense of isolation, disconnection, and suicidal impulses currently felt by young people. First, we examine the reality and seriousness of youth problems based on various government statistical data and examine the various policies promoted by the government. We also review related papers and materials for preventing youth suicide. Then, we look at what ideas are shared in various religions around the world and how the community feels a sense of unity. By doing so, we suggest that religious teachings are not trite ideas that do not fit the current era, but can provide value that allows young people who are wandering because they cannot find the meaning of life to look at their lives and the world in a new way. Therefore, I suggest that religious studies, whose academic identity is not properly recognized even within the humanities, can be newly recognized for its academic value through practical death education measures.
