The purpose of this study is to research and analyze the present status of music education at kindergarten in the Republic of Korea. To mgt the purpose, the following were questioned. Among some 600 female kindergarten teachers in active service in "U" Metropolis, 240 kindergarten teachers from this city's three 'Ku's, city districts in Korea, were distributed and asked to fill in a detailed but unsigned questionnaire. The 92% of the 290 questionnaires, 220 questionnaires were collected to be the subject of this study and were done with statistical processes.
The summary of the findings of this study are as follows;
First, in the case of institution types of kindergartens, there was statistically significant difference in the categories of 'singing, guidance of creative expression, instruction of traditional music, and teacher's teaching capability.
Second, in the case of teachers' education levels, there was statistically significant difference in the categories of 'singing, guidance of creative expression, instruction of traditional music, and teacher's teaching capability.
Third, in the case of teachers' teaching experiences, there was statistically significant difference in the categories of 'singing, teaching of appreciation, guidancee of creative expression, and instruction of traditional music.
Fourth, in the case of teachers' music training program experiences, there was no statistically significant difference in all categories of 'singing, guidance of creative expression, instruction of traditional music, teacher's teaching capability, teaching of appreciation, teaching of musical instruments, the level of lesson preparation, the possession level of music-related materials, the interest level in music education, and the knowledge level of teaching method.
