To study the analysis of the gastric secretion, Tetragastrin was used a s a stimulant on 18 patients with duodenal ulcer, 32 patients with gastric ulcer, 8 patients with both types occuring simultaneously, 29 patients with advanced carcinoma of the stomach, 5 patients with early cancer of the stomach and 50 normal persons who were admitted to the department of Internal Medicine, Woo Sok Hospital, Korea University College of Medicine during one year and ten months from January 1972 to October 1973.
The results obtained were summerized a s follows:
1. The normal values of free HCl, pepsin, Na, Cl and K were estimated with 1.19±0. 41 mEq/hr, 2.66±1.78 P. U., 4.88±2.88 mEq/hr, 6.77±.3.52 mEq/hr and 1.06±0.55 mEq/hr in basal secretion, and with 6.03±3.42 mEq/hr, 5.90±4.19 P. U., 5.20±3.09 mEq/hr, 13.37±5.71 mEq/hr and 1.45±0.62 mEq/hr in poststimulated secretion, respectively. The gastric secretion of normal persons were showed significant correlation between body weights and biological activities.
2. Pre- and poststimulated values from chronic superficial gastritis were increased with gastric secretion, but those from chronic atrophic gastritis were decreased, as compared with data from a group of 50 normal persons.
3. Gastric secretion of peptic ulcer was influenced by the sites and severity of ulceration, and decreased in order of gastro-duodenal ulcer, duodenal ulcer, ulcer on the pyloric portion and ulcer on the body of the stomach.
4. The amount of the combined acid was significantly decreased, in the stimulation with Tetragastrin than that of basal state in cases of the gastro-duodenal ulcer and the 여odenal ulcer.
5. Gastric secretion of gastric cancer was influenced by the sites of the malignant infiltration.
Poststimulated secretion was decreased in carcinoma on the pyloric portion a s compared with normal persons. In the carcinoma af the body of stomach, pepsin and electrolytes were increased in poststimdation, but free HCl was decreased in secretion.
6. Tetragastrin made of increased gastric secretion with stimulation to all of the gastric secreting cells and had usually rare side effects in proportion to Histalog stimulation.
