농업인의 근골격계 증상의 통증 정도와 삶의 질의 관계 = Association between Severity of Pain of Musculoskeletal Symptoms and Quality of Life among Agricultural Workers

The purpose of this study was to examine farming related musculoskeletal symptoms caused by agricultural work and to determine the quality of their life. As a cross-sectional study, a questionnaire survey was conducted in rural communities and investigation was carried out by a structured survey with 135 farmers. The results were as follows: The prevalence of musculoskeletal symptoms that occurred commonly in the body regions in descending order was shoulders (58.5%), low back (51.9%), legs/knees (51.9%) followed by neck (25.9%), arms/elbows (25.9%), and hands/wrists/fingers (23.0%). The mean score of health related quality of life by SF-36 was 57.34±14.65. The study found that farmer’s musculoskeletal symptoms showed a significant negative correlation with their quality of life. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a health management system in Korean rural communities that provide consistent support and attention toward farmer’s musculoskeletal symptoms. This ultimately will contribute to improve Korean famers’ quality of life and promote their health.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 농업인의 근골격계 증상과 삶의 질을 파악하기 위한 서술적 조사연구로서, 경기도, 충청도, 경상도, 전라도, 강원도에 거주하는 농업인 135명을 대상으로 하였다. 연구결과 농업인의 신체부위별 근골격계 통증 호소율은 어깨부위가 58.5%로 가장 많았고, 허리 51.9%, 다리/무릎 51.9%, 목 25.9%, 팔/팔꿈치 25.9%, 손/손목/손가락 23.0%순으로 나타났다. SF-36으로 측정한 삶의 질은 평균 57.34±14.65이었다. 또한, 대상자의 근골격계 증상이 심할수록 대상자의 삶의 질은 낮았다. 그러므로 농업인의 근골격계 증상에 관심을 갖고 관리할 수 있는 건강관리 체계를 구축할 필요가 있으며, 이는 농업인의 건강과 삶의 질 개선에 기여할 것이다.
