This article describes a clinical case in which a combination of different treatment modalities was used in short-term psychotherapy for a Korean American female high school student who suffered from depression and anger that resulted in relationship problems with family members, especially the mother, as well as with peers at school. The number of individual counseling sessions was twenty. The treatment interventions consisted of psychodynamic, cognitive, behavioral, and supportive interventions. Each intervention’s role is briefly described, and the advantages of the techniques of each intervention are presented. Issues to consider when working with depressed and/or angry youths are also discussed.
