뉴욕주의 진로교육 담당 교사 양성과정 탐색: 고교학점제 시행 맥락에서 한국의 진로전담교사 양성과정에 주는 시사점을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

[연구목적] 고교학점제의 시행과 더불어 진로교육의 필요성이 강화되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 진로교육 선진국 중 하나인 미국의 진로교육 담당 교사 양성과정을 탐색하여 한국에 주는 시사점을 도출하고자 한다.
[연구방법] 본 연구에서 선정한 사례는 미국 뉴욕주이다. 미국은 학교에 상담교사를 배치하여 진로교육을 담당하도록 한 역사가 오래되었으며, 이 연구에서는 비교적 자료 접근이 용이한 뉴욕주의 사례를 검토하였다. 분석 자료는 뉴욕주 진로교육 담당 교사 양성과 관련한 주 차원의 기준과 구체적인 진로교육 담당 교사 양성 프로그램이다.
[연구결과] 분석 결과, 뉴욕주 진로교육 담당 교사 양성 프로그램의 자격 취득 과정은 교사에게만 국한되어 있지 않았다. 또한 뉴욕주 진로교육 담당 교사 양성 프로그램에서는 소수자 학생을 포함한 ‘모든 학생’에 대한 이해를 도모할 수 있는 내용의 비중이 높았고, 예비 교사에게 상당한 인턴십 및 실습 시간을 요구하고 있었다.
[결론] 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 한국의 진로전담교사 양성과정에서 진로전담교사 선발 기준 재고, 다양한 학습자 이해에 대한 내용 비중 강화, 학점·실습 규정 마련의 필요성 등에 대하여 제언하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

[Purpose] This study aims to explore career education teacher training programs in the US, one of the leading countries in career education, to draw implications for Korea.
[Methods] New York State was chosen due to its long history of using school counselors for career education and the ease of accessing data. The analysis includes state-level standards and specific training programs.
[Results] The analysis revealed that New York State's career education teacher training programs were not limited to in-service teachers. Additionally, the programs place a significant emphasis on understanding ‘ALL students,’ including minority students, and require substantial internship and practicum hours for pre-service teachers.
[Conclusion] Based on the findings, the study suggests that Korea should reconsider the selection criteria for career counselors, increase emphasis on understanding diverse learners, and establish credit and practicum regulations.
