방송 및 온라인 미사, 그 상징과 아우라 = Broadcast and Online Mass, its Symbols and Aura

국문 초록 (Abstract)

｢한국 천주교회 코로나 팬데믹 사목백서를 위한 설문조사｣에 의하면 신자들은 코로나19로 인해 신앙생활을 정상적으로 하지 못하게 되면서 성당에가서 미사에 참석하지 못하는 상황이 제일 어려웠고, 그 어려움을 방송 및온라인 미사에 참여하는 것으로 해소하였다. 하지만 코로나19의 기간이 길어지면서 신앙인들은 자연스레 신앙 관련 디지털 콘텐츠 이용 시간이 늘었고 그로 인해 본당의 대면 주일미사 참석은 줄어들게 되었다. 오히려 코로나19가 종식이 되어도 신앙인들은 방송 및 온라인 미사에 계속 참여하겠다는응답을 하였다. 프란치스코 교황은 포스트 팬데믹을 지내는 신앙인들이 신앙 공동체가 아닌 덩그러니 혼자 TV, 모니터, 스마트폰 앞에서 성찬의 전례를 시청하는 신앙생활을 대면 주일미사에 참석하는 것보다 더 선호함으로써초래될 수 있는 상징성의 상실에 대해 문제를 제기하신다. 신자들이 예수님을 만날 수 있는 그 생생한 현장을 벗어나지 않도록, 풍요로운 상징을 접하고 그로인해 아우라를 체험할 수 있는 그 곳에 머물 수 있도록 방송 및 온라인 미사는 이제 멈춰야 한다. 성찬의 전례에서 “확실히 우리는 주 예수님을만날 수 있고, 그분 파스카 신비의 권능이 우리에게 이를 수 있어야 한다. 예수님의 희생 제사의 구원 능력, 그분의 모든 말씀, 그분의 모든 몸짓, 눈짓과감정이 성찬의 전례를 통하여 우리에게 다가와야 한다.” 이것을 멈추지 않는다면 설문조사의 결과에서 보듯이 “그리스도교가 왜곡된 형태에서는 교회의삶이 처참해지는 결과에 이를 수 있다.”

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

According to the ｢Survey for the Pastoral White Paper on the Coronavirus Pandemic of the Catholic Church in Korea｣, the most challenging situation for the faithful was not being able to go to church and attend Mass due to COVID-19. They resolved this difficulty by participating in broadcast and online Masses. However, as COVID-19 has progressed, people of faith have naturally spent more time engaging with faith-related digital content, which has led to a decline in face-to-face Sunday Mass attendance at parishes. Instead, they said they would continue participating in broadcast and online Masses even after COVID-19 ends. Pope Francis raises the issue of the loss of symbolism that can occur in the post-pandemic era when people of faith prefer to watch the Eucharistic liturgy in front of a TV, monitor, or smartphone alone rather than in a community of faith than attend a face to face Sunday Mass. Televised and online Masses need to stop so that the faithful can remain in the presence of Jesus, where they can encounter rich symbols and experience the aura that comes with them. “In the Eucharist we are guaranteed the possibility of encountering the Lord Jesus and of having the power of his Paschal Mystery reach us. The salvific power of the sacrifice of Jesus, his every word, his every gesture, glance, and feeling reaches us through the celebration of the sacraments.” If left unchecked, as the survey shows, “these distorted forms of Christianity can have disastrous consequences for the life of the Church.”
