What is art? For the question of what art is, the process of the artist looking for the answer to the question becomes the artistic act. As a poet answers the question through language, an artist finds the answer to the question through formative language, which can be said to be the task assigned to the modern artists.
The artist begins from a personal interest and with the formative act, reflects the external and internal life of oneself onto the works.
In producing the works, the artist does not just rely on one's personal understanding of beauty or interest. One is influenced not only by the contemporary formative styles but also by the times, social aspects, and cultural facets directly and indirectly.
The present can be said to be a time where many things are allowed, and moreover, acknowledged. Such pluralistic society provides peace on the outside, but the plurality, on the other hand, brings internal disconjunction and alienation to cause lack of communication and in turn mass-produce the unrest which only produces self-replicates. Such historical, social agony and personal experiences form the base and the traces of thoughts are reflected through the object of things (tools), and the works are completed as the communion with the viewers who appreciate them.
This report has organized the formativeness and expressional characteristics in the philosophical approach and forms regarding the ontological meanings in the works by the author.
The ontological thoughts that frame the works will be examined against the philosophical meanings. To do so, first the question of being by the philosopher Martin Heidegger (1889~1975) and the ontological meaning of things (Ding), and what meaning that question of being conveys in artistic works will be examined before investigating the ontological meaning in the objects (things) and expressional styles seen in the works by the author.
The task of the author is to find out which style to formulate such in through the understanding of ontological meanings, and this study covers the formative elements according to the intent of production, shows the production process of accomplishing the personalization, and defines the works to seek the future directions for the creative act ahead.
