고려전기의 북방 영토의식과 이민족 인식 = Northern Territorial Consciousness and Recognition of the Ethnic Group in Early Goryeo

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Goryeo during the early Goryeo tried to recover homogeneity the difference out of later three kingdoms division through the awareness of ‘Iltongsamhan’. Inflow of various ethnic groups due to change of international environment was actively accepted through extension of Goryeo whole world view. Political‧social conflict due to this was able to be overcome through regulation process of sharing history succession consciousness and identity.
Goryeo territorial consciousness included unified Silla and the territory of old Goguryeo. The point that it highly regarded Yalu river with the northern boundary was because it became an important basic point of Goguryeo history succession consciousness and northern policy of Goryeo. This was fully reflected on the point that it installed Seogyeong at Pyeongyang and took it as an advanced base for northern policy. Determination of Yalu river basin as Goryeo territory was through three wars with the Kitan. By overcoming this, it became an opportunity to extend northern territorial consciousness, later, foreign territorial division was conducted based on Yalu river basin. Foreign territorial division showed the territorial symbolism in plural East Asian order of ‘Goryeo－Song－Kitan’, which influenced formation and extension of Goryeo whole world view.
Establishment of ‘Goryeojangseong’ became a new turning point for the early Goryeo northern territorial consciousness. Establishment of Goryeojangseong not only was the symbol of northern territorial consciousness, but also the achievement of northern policy, as well as the process to overcome conflict with northern ethnic group. Construction of Goryeojangseong seemed to be a foreign division line that connected ‘Kitan－Yeojin’ in appearance, however it became a background that caused conflict between ‘Goryeo and Kitan’ in northwest region, and ‘Goryeo and Yeojin’ in northeast region. Frequent conversion conflict with Goryeo due to growth of Yeojin was continued to Yeojin conquest, in this process, Goryeo could more firmly reinforce northern territorial consciousness.
Yeojin race was early divided into west Yeojin and east Yeojin, which were also called ‘Seobeon’ and ‘Dongbeon’. They intended to entrust by selecting the party which was favorable for them in the plural international order of east Asia. It is comprehended that the system of ‘Suzerain and Ordinary People’ was formed through this, and the order was mutually respected. Accordingly, they were divided into ‘Hwanae’ and ‘Hwaoe’ according to inclusion in the type of order. While ‘Hwaoe’ indicated Yeojin people who belonged to Kitan escaping from Goryeo whole world view, ‘Hwanae’ indicated Yeojin people who belonged to Goryeo whole world view. In this respect, it was determined that the races that belonged to Goryeo whole world view became the target for rule, nevertheless Yeojin people could not be Goryeo people.
