Currently, the percentage of Chinese residents is increasing inKorea. The various adaptation difficulties they face in Koreansociety are considered more important. This study is conducted toexamine ways for Chinese residents in Korea to adapt better tothe Korean society. In particular, this study is focused on the useof the media which Chinese residents depend on in order for theadaptation of Korean society. We conducted research centered onthe online community of the media that Chinese residents usemost of the times. We examined about how the sense ofcommunity which is made by the online community supports themadapt to Korean culture. In order to examine this, we confirmedthe possibility that social support can be an important mediatorbetween the two through the literature review. The purpose of thisstudy is to examine the factors affecting Chinese residents’consciousness of online community and the effect of onlinecommunity consciousness on social support and culturaladaptation. For this study, Chinese residents participated who are using therepresentative online community “struggle in Korea.” A total of295 Chinese residents participated in the questionnaire. We linkedthe online questionnaire “struggle in Korea” which is translatedinto Chinese to Wechat and Weibo. As a result of examining the factors affecting the onlinecommunity consciousness which is made by the online community, the utilization time of community use was the most influentialvariable in the online community consciousness. And residential areas and residence periods have a positiveeffect on online community consciousness. However, the numberof posts in the community did not show statistically significantresults. We found that the stronger the community consciousness of theonline community, the higher the level of social and culturaladaptation. It has been found that online communityconsciousness affects both emotional support related to socialsupport, evaluative support, material support and informationsupport. In addition, community consciousness of the onlinecommunity has a mediating role in social culture adaptation. As a result of examining factors affecting social cultureadaptation, online community consciousness has the mostinfluential variable in social culture adaptation. Next, people andnumber of posts are followed. On the other hand, there were nostatistically significant results in terms of residence period, Korean language ratings, utilization time of “struggle in Korea”, watchingtime of TV programs and utilization time of Korean portals. Inaddition, it is found that SNS is not correlated with social cultureadaptation. The results of this analysis have significance in suggesting thedevelopment direction of the online community used by Chineseresidents in Korea.
