정량적 지표기반 세계 정상급 배드민턴 남자단식선수들의 경기수행특성 = Performance Characteristics of the World-Class Badminton Male Singles Players based on Quantitative Index

The purpose of this study is to identify the performance characteristics of the world-class badminton male singles players based on quantitative index. To achieve the purpose of the study, two specific research objectives were set. First was to develop quantitative badminton performance index using badminton records.
In the process of developing, eight expert groups were formed. Second was to use the quantitative performance index and identify the performance characteristics of the world-class badminton male singles players. For this, data from Badminton World Federation's 24 competitions, 64 players, and 232 matches were collected. A pool of match index was created through the collected match data. In addition, performance characteristics depending on the differences in the world rankings were identified by separately classifying the top 20 players(from raking 1 to 20) and the players from raking 50 to 100(20 players). For data analysis, Mann-Whitney U test, Spearman ρ, and Decision Tree Analysis were applied. The results of this study are as follows. The quantitative badminton match index were classified into three categories: attack ability, defense ability, and match management ability. 19 indicators were developed in total. The characteristics of the world-class badminton players are attack, power attack, course-change, inaccuracy of Return, consecutive loss management Ability, and number of miss. In particular, if the power attack ability is over 20.6%, the probability of being classified as a top player is 100%. On the other hand, if the power attack ability is less than 20.6% and the consecutive loss Management ability is 4.21 or more, the probability of not reaching the top player category is 100.0%. The results of this study can be used as basic information for improving badminton performance.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 정량적 경기지표를 활용하여 세계 정상급 배드민턴 남자단식 선수들의 경기수행특성을 확인하는 것을목적으로 수행되었다 . 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 두 개의 세부연구목표를 수행하였다 . 첫 번째 단계로는 전문가집단의 완전합의 방법으로 배드민턴 경기지표를 탐색 및 개발하였다 . 내용타당도와 구인타당도의 확인과정을 통해개발된 배드민턴 경기지표의 현장 적용 가능성을 검토하였다 . 두 번째 단계는 개발된 배드민턴 경기지표를 실제 경기자료에 적용하여 세계 정상급 남자단식 선수들의 경기수행특성을 확인하였다 . 이를 위해 세계배드민턴연맹 기준세계랭킹 20 위 이내 정상급 선수집단과 비교집단 ( 세계랭킹 50 위 -100 위 ) 을 대상으로 경기지표를 적용하였으며 , 랭킹에 따른 경기수행특성을 확인하였다 . 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 기술통계 , Mann-Whitney U 검정 , Spearman 의 등위상관계수 , 의사결정나무분석을 수행하였다 . 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다 . 첫째 , 배드민턴 종목의 경기기록을 통하여 ‘ 공격능력 ’, ‘ 수비능력 ’, ‘ 경기운영능력 ’ 으로 구분되는 전체 19 개의 정량적 경기지표를 개발할 수 있었다 . 둘째 , 정상급 선수집단과 비교집단은 9 개에 해당하는 경기수행특성의 차이를 나타냈다 . 셋째 , 세계 정상급 남자단식 선수들은 전체 득점 중 20.6% 이상을 파워공격 득점으로 수행하며 , 세트 당 4.2 개 이하의 연속실점을 수행하는 것으로확인되었다 . 이 연구의 결과는 배드민턴 종목의 경기력 관련 정보의 다양화와 세계 정상급 배드민턴 선수들의 경기수행특성을 확인할 수 있는 유용한 정보로 활용될 수 있을 것이라 기대한다.
