An electron stimulated desorption (ESD) system using a time-of-ight method was assembled for the study of desorbed ESD ions from hot cathode ionization gauges and hydrogen desorption from vacuum materials. Kr, Xe and H2 were adsorbed on a clean Cu surface, and the ight times and desorption yields of residual particles and hydrogen ions were investigated. The desorption yields of the adsorbed gases were observed to depend the incident electron energy.
