Ambient plasma was applied to graphite oxide (GO) in order to modify and improve electrochemical properties of graphite oxide. The specific surface area of plasma treated graphite oxide (P-GO) increased compared to the precursor GO and graphite itself. In addition, the equivalent series resistance (ESR) of P-GO was 84.2 Ω, which is lower than 107.9 Ω of GO and 163.3 Ω of graphite, resulting in the positive effects on the electrochemical properties for the supercapacitor applications. The corresponding capacitance of P-GO increased to 1.13 F/g from 0.67 F/g of GO at the scan rate of 50 mV/s. Therefore, the ambient plasma treatment is very effective method to modify and improve the surface properties of electrodes for the energy storage devices so it will further dedicated to various researches and the development of industries in the functionalization, modification, enhancement, and effective reduction of new material and electrodes for various applications.
