In the 1990s, novelist-novels were requested in a format of sort of self-censorship and realization by novelists that were concerned with the degradation and damage of literature and tried to imprint the ethics of fierce literature and writer`s consciousness onto themselves. In their novels, the protagonists mostly contemplate and think over What is literature? What should literature be? in the pain of no more creation and sense of crisis as a writer. In the process of reflection, they reconfirm the ethical and social accountability of literature that it cannot be absorbed into the logic of fetishistic capital and be free from the wound and agony of social reality. The novelist-novels of the 1990s, in particular, are characterized by reflection on the conceptual and fragmentary literary concepts of the previous times and by pursuit of innate human physicality and natural senses, which used to be alienated and suppressed by modern civilization and reason, as the new orientation of literature.
