This dissertation will propose to analyze the past and present works of 3D cinema and business circle and technology of movie theater in order to appropriate 3D cinema display.
As shown in the recent declining movie business, the image industry has gone downhill for several recent years. This is because the relatively reduced necessity of Movie Theater caused by DVD which is sold upon movie is launched and diverse digital devices that allow us to watch movie easily thanks to development of home theater and network. As a result, 3D cinema which is more dynamic than the existing 2D cinema and difficult to copy is highlighted as it is being developed mainly in USA. Developing to digital cinema, 2D cinema in the past could be easily converted into 3D cinema and the development of cubic image technology in the movie theater notably contributed to this trend. Making more profit compared to 2D cinema, 3D cinema is produced more by eminent producers and directors of Hollywood. As 3D movie is noted, it is required to forecast the future prospect by analyzing works and trend of business circle of 3D cinema.
This dissertation tried to grasp the development trend of 3D cinema by checking the history of 3D cinema and classifying some 450 movie works on the basis of year, state, image technology and length. Further, the technical trend of business circle such as business circle related to 3D cinema and movie image system like RealD, Nuvision, Dolby and KDC. Viewing the tendency of 3D cinema, we can see that movie produced by 3D technology is gradually increasing due to increasing number of theaters where cubic screening is possible and the existing 2D cinema which is converted into 3D. In this paper, it is aimed to analyze its trend of 3D cinema and to research the 3D display technology focusing on the shutter glasses type.
