청주시립무용단 공연 활성화 방안 연구

This study examines the current operation and performance activities of Cheongju City Dance Company, a regional dance company based in Cheongju, Korea. It suggests a plan for vitalizing its performance works to achieve the purpose of its establishment and promote cultural development for Cheongju City. Furthermore, the study aims to find a way for Cheongju City Dance Company to reach out to the community and achieve further growth.

Therefore, the study focused on identifying the problems that need to be solved to vitalize the Cheongju City Dance Company’s performance works and suggest solutions to those problems.

The current status of the dance company was researched by referencing Cheongju City Dance Company’s performance brochures and Cheongju City Arts Center website and reviewing existing academic books and research papers about Cheongju City Dance Company. Also, site investigations and interviews with related officials were conducted. Operational structures and performance activities of other regional dance companies were researched to compare them with Cheongju City Dance Company’s operations and find advisable programs in line with the activation plan of Cheongju City Dance Company.

A systematic approach to staff organization must increase efficiency in terms of operational structure. Operations staff should be able to focus on each of their roles professionally and provide results that can contribute to the development of Cheongju City Dance Company. A professional operations team must be built within the company to increase efficiency in administration and operations, and a systemized organizational restructuring is necessary. In addition, it is also suggested that Cheongju City Dance Company exchange art and culture with other regions of Korea through partnerships and collaborative works with other dance companies and various art organizations and contribute to interregional exchange and friendship by planning creative and original programs. Moreover, the innovative partnership efforts must go beyond the domestic boundary. It would be beneficial for Cheongju City Dance Company to actively support international collaboration projects and promote partnerships with overseas dance companies. Also, as the rehearsal rooms of the dance company play an essential part in the creation and performance of dance works, a plan to relocate the rehearsal rooms must be developed.

For the performance program development and activation plan, activation methods were made in line with the characteristics of each type of dance performance, which were found by examining Cheongju City Dance Company’s performance program. With the regular programs, it is suggested that they focus on adding more traditional and folk aspects and other creative components to their performance pieces and actively plan the programs to build a rich repertory of performance. Furthermore, such performance works portraying the local characteristics of Cheongju City should be turned into a high-quality brand, which supports the growth of the dance company and the development of local culture in Cheongju City. In addition to significant dance events, new works must be created in unique and different styles, and it is encouraged for the dance company to produce other signature works. As for dance tours, it would be best to focus on volunteer activities and use them as a way to promote art and culture for culturally disadvantaged people of Cheongju City. In accordance with the changing times, Cheongju City Dance company must also focus on creating online performances to play a part in the promotion of contact-free performances and develop a plan for the future. Also, to develop the skills and creativity of the dancers of Cheongju City Dance Company, performances in the form of dance recitals must be planned, and choreography creation programs should be developed as well to foster new talents. Workshops and special classes with visiting instructors can be beneficial for developing the skills of individual dancers.

Cheongju City Dance Company must play a role in increasing cultural appreciation in the community and developing art and culture in the region by creating a wide range of art performances and enhancing art quality through new plans and various performances. Such endeavors will help Cheongju City Dance Company to lead the art and culture community in Cheongju City and become an internationally recognized dance company.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 지역예술단인 청주시립무용단의 운영현황과 전체적인 공연 활동을 살펴보고 공연 프로그램을 분석해 그 결과를 반영한 청주시립무용단의 공연 활성화를 위한 방안을 제시하여 설립의 목적을 이룩하고 청주시 지역문화의 발전에 기여하며 나아가서 청주시립무용단이 시민들에게 다가설 수 있는 방안을 찾고 청주시립무용단이 더욱더 발전하는데 도움을 주고자 함에 목적이 있다.
따라서 청주시립무용단의 배경인 연혁을 알아보고, 운영 현황과 공연 프로그램 분석을 바탕으로 청주시립무용단의 공연 활성화를 위해 해결해야 할 문제점이 무엇인지 파악하고 대안점을 제시하는데에 목적과 필요성을 두고 연구를 진행하였다.
청주시립무용단 공연 관련 팜플렛과 활동 기사, 청주시립예술단 홈페이지 등을 참고로 하여 기존 학술서적과 연구 논문 등을 검토하고 청주시립무용단의 현장조사와 단원 및 사무국 업무 담당자의 면담 및 자료제공 등으로 현황을 파악하였다. 또한 타 지역의 시립무용단을 참고 연구 대상으로 하여 운영체계와 공연 활동 등을 비교 조사하여 바람직한 운영프로그램들이 있는지 알아보았고 청주시립무용단 활성화 방안에 맞추어 비교, 제시하였다.
먼저 운영체계에서는 사무운영팀의 인력을 체계화하여 업무의 효율성을 높이며 담당업무에 더 집중하여 청주시립무용단의 발전을 위해 힘써야 하고 필요 행정과 운영의 효율성을 위해서는 전문적인 운영진을 확보하여 체계화 된 조직의 개편이 필요하다. 또한 각 지역의 시립무용단 외 다양한 예술단체와의 협업 및 교류공연을 통해 지역의 문화 예술을 교류하고 창의적이고 새로운 다양한 프로그램을 기획하여 지역간의 교류 활성화와 우호 증진에 기여해야 한다. 그리고 국내 뿐만 아니라 해외의 무용 단체와도 국제 교류공연을 적극적으로 지원하여 상호 협력 관계를 증진 해야하며 이러한 중요한 공연이 창작되어 작품을 연습하는 장소인 청주시립무용단의 연습실은 효율적인 연습을 진행할 수 있도록 연습실 확보에 대한 방안을 마련하도록 지원해 주어야 할 것이다.
공연 프로그램 개발 및 활성화 방안에서는 청주시립무용단의 공연 프로그램 분석을 통해 각 공연 별로 나누어 특성을 찾아 활성화 방안을 제시하였다. 청주시립무용단의 정기공연 레퍼토리는 창작 뿐만 아니라 전통과 민속 레퍼토리 부분을 강화하여 풍성한 레퍼토리를 보여주기 위해 적극적으로 기획에 힘써야 하며 청주시의 지역성을 담은 작품이 안무가 되어 브랜드화시켜 수준 높은 공연을 양상하여 무용단뿐만 아닌 청주시에도 지역문화 발전을 가져와야 한다. 또한 대표적인 기획공연 이외에도 새로운 형식의 기획공연을 다양한 방면에서 모색하여 전석 매진의 명성에 맞대어 또 다른 대표적인 공연을 기획하도록 힘써야 할 것이다. 찾아가는공연은 문화예술에 소외되는 계층에 초점을 두어 청주시의 문화 소외계층에 대해 재능기부 활동으로 노력을 기울여야 한다. 그리고 변화하는 시대에 맞추어 오프라인이 아닌 온라인화의 공연에도 집중하여 비대면 언택트 공연의 활성화가 되도록 노력해야 하며 미래에 나아가야 할 방안에 대하여 집중해서 모색해야 한다. 그리고 청주시립무용단을 이끌어 가는 예능단원의 개인 역량 개발을 위해 단원창작발표회 형식의 공연을 기획하고 신진안무가 육성을 위한 단원 창작 안무프로그램의 개발이 필요하며 워크샵과 외부 강사 특강 형식의 프로그램을 기획하여 단원 개개인의 역량에 발전할 수 있도록 새로운 방안이 수립되어야 할 것이다.
청주시립무용단은 새로운 기획과 다양한 공연으로 폭 넓은 예술세계를 구축하며 지역 예술의 질을 한층 더 높여 풍요로운 시민의 문화향유 증진과 지역 문화예술의 발전을 위해 노력해야하며 청주문화예술을 이끌고 세계적인 무용단으로 거듭나길 바란다.
