『黒衣聖母』論 = A study on Akutagawaryuunosuke’s “Kokuiseibo”

本作品は芥川龍之介の所謂切支丹物に属する短編である。物語は黒檀を刻んだ麻利椰観音にまつわる稲見家の伝説という形で運ばれている。芥川は物語の中で聖母麻利椰をキリスト教における聖なる存在ではなく、意地悪そうなものとして書き変えているのである。つまり、彼はキリストを神としてではなく、物語の小道具として使っている。芥川は稲見家の「麻理耶観音」を以て人間の力を超越した皮肉で可笑しな運命を披瀝しているのである。

This work is a short story which belongs to Akutagawa Ryunosuke’s so-called Christian in feudal Japan thing.A story is carried by the shape as the legend of Inami family who concerns the Mari ya Kannon who cut an ebony.Akutagawa is rewriting Holy Mother Mari ya as something to seem mean, not Christian holy existence in the story.In other words, he can peep at using Christ as tools of a story, not a god.Akutagawa has an ironic and mysterious destiny that transcends the power of human beings with the Inami family’s “Maria Kannon”.
