In this era of ever-changing technology, the study aims to analyze research trends in teaching and learning Korean Language using online media. Over 160 studies on the subject have been analyzed by year, type of online media, and research methodology, to deduct apparent general trends in related studies. Based on the analyzed data, suggestions were also made for future follow-up studies regarding educating Korean language with online media.
The study consists of five chapters, as follows: Chapter 1 highlights the importance of using online media for Korean education research, and states the purpose of the study. Chapter 2 reviews theoretical backgrounds and past literature to define 'online media' within the context of Korean language teaching and learning environment. Chapter 3 presents the analysis tools used to study trends of related studies by year, type of online media used, and research methodology, based on published studies and dissertations that took place from 1999 to May, 2017. Chapter 4 dissects the three-pronged trend analysis results and reviews values these studies carry. And finally, Chapter 5 summarizes the analysis results and provides suggestions for future follow-up studies.
