To evaluate the discrepancy between the findings of preoperative CT and the findings of operative endoscopy, 54 patients who underwent endoscopic sinus surgery at least 2 weeks medications, computerized tomography of the ostiomeatal complex was taken within 2 weeks prior to surgery.
1)The anterior ethmoidal sinus most frequently showed mucosal disease despite of normal CT findings (7 of 13 patients, 54%), followed by the posterior ethmoidal and frontal sinuses.
2)The sphenoid sinus most frequently showed normal operative endoscopic findings despite of partial or total opacity on CT findings (6 of 20 patients, 30%), followed by the maxillary, frontal and posterior ethmoidal sinuses.
3)The operative findings of the maxillary sinus were consistent with the findings on OMU CT (35 of 62 patients, 56%), followed by the sphenoid, posterior ethmoidal and anterior ethmoidal sinuses.
The results of the study suggest that there is a great discrepancy
