The objective of this study was to explore the relationship between career management and organization commitment, job involvement among clinical nurses.
The study has been conducted on 197 nurses working 1 general hospital in Cheongju city, chungcheongbukdo province during the period between Aug. 15 and Aug. 25, 2005. For the survey tools are Hall(1990) & Orpen(1994)'s personal career planning, Orpen's(1994) organization career management,
Mowday's(1983) organization commitment and Lorence & Motiner's(1985)job involvement. The date analyzed by Pearson correlation coefficient, ANOVA, Scheffe test and t-test by SPSS win 10.0 program.
The findings are as follows ;
1. General characteristics were significantly difference in :
1) Personal career planning : education level(p=0.001)
2) Organization career management : age (p=0.021) place of work(p=0.036)
3) Organization commitment: age(p=0.000)
4) Job involvement: age(p=0.000), education level(p=0.014)
2. The correlations between personal career planning, organization career management and organization commitment, job involvement showed a positive correlation. The study results were examined that personal career planning and organization career management had an positively effect on organization commitment and job involvement.
Based on the above results, if these are useful practical application of nursing-human resources management, I think that results of this study will contribute to improve the productivity of nursing organizations. When considering these results in clinical practice, I propose that should be conducted studies about career development which can promote change of nursing-human resources management. I also propose that career management requires specific strategies on characterized career management planning and should be accomplished diversified further studies.
