돌봄자로서 아들의 역할 수행: 노부모를 돌보는 아들의 경험에 대한 연구 = The Role of a son as a caregiver: Study on A son’s Experience on Taking care of Old parents

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 그동안 주목받지 못했던 돌봄자로서 노부모를 돌보는 아들의 경험과 의미를 '돌봄 수행'에 초점에 맞춰 살펴보는 것이다. 돌봄의 부담에 초점을 맞춘 이전의 연구와 달리 본연구는 돌봄을 ‘수행’하는 과정에 주목하고자 하였다. 이에 돌봄이 필요한 노부모에게 돌봄을 제공하고 있는 8명의 아들들을 심층 면접하였고, 일반적 질적연구방법을 통해 구체적 경험과 의미를 분석하였다. 분석결과 4개의 범주가 도출되었다. 갑작스럽게 돌봄을 접하게 되는 '돌봄 마주하기', 돌봄 책임과 현실 속에서 겪게 되는 ‘상황에 따른 선택’, ‘돌봄 현실과 충돌’, 돌봄을 관계 관점에서 바라보는 ‘돌봄의 의미와 가치’가 그것이다. 분석결과를 바탕으로 아들 돌봄제공자를 위한 ‘가족 돌봄휴직제도’, ‘남성돌봄 모임’ 등의 실천적 제언을 하였다. 또 앞으로 증가하는 남성 돌봄 역할을 사회적으로 받아들이기 위해서는 모든 사람이 돌봄에 책임이 있다는 것에 대한 동의가 필요하며 나아가 정치적으로나 윤리적으로 서로를 돌볼 수 있도록 하는 돌봄 시스템에 대한 필요성을 제안하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to focus on ‘care practice’ of a son’s experience on taking care of the elderlies as a caretaker that have not been studied deeply previously. Unlike the previous studies that focused on the burden and the experience of care, we wanted to pay attention to the process of carrying out care. In-depth interview was conducted with eight sons who were providing care to their elderly parents who needed care and analyzed through general qualitative research methods. A total of four categories were derived from the analysis: ‘facing care’, ‘closing the gap between care’ that shows the process of how one takes on the responsibility of providing care, ‘reality of care and collision’ regarding a detailed actualization of care, and ‘the meaning and value of care’, looking at care from a relationship point of view. Based on the results of the analysis, practical suggestions such as ‘family care leave system’ and ‘male caregiver meeting’ were developed for son caregivers. Additionally, it is necessary to agree that everyone is responsible for care and there needs to be a need for care system that allows people to take care of each other both politically and ethically order to socially accept the growing role of male caregivers.
