Despite growing interest in the issues of communication, trust and commitment, studies examining the interplay between all of those three variables are lacking. This study attempts to address the mediating role of trust between communication and organizational commitment for hotel employees. It draws on survey data involving 316 hotel employees from major cities in Korea. The results are as follows: First, employees who are aware of communication effectiveness showed trust to their organization. Second, employees who trust their organization and colleagues tend to commit themselves emotionally and behaviorally into their organization. Third, trust toward superior and organization is the most important factor to explain employees` commitment degree. From the results of this study, it is necessary for hotels to develop specific schemes for earning trust from its employees in order to maximize organizational commitment.
