As the buildings have become high-rise, the lateral load resisting systems to support horizontal force have played very important roles to control the lateral drift of high-rise buildings.
This paper presents an approximate analysis of multioutrigger-braced structures with a pair of coupled shear walls and investigates the behaviors of the structures according to the core location. Based on the certain simplified assumptions, the outrigger restraining moment, core moment, core axial force, column axial force, horizontal deflection are derived analytically.
Comparison with the results by the MIDAS-GEN program for structural models has shown that the proposed approximate formulae can give reasonably accurate results for multioutrigger-braced structures with a pair of coupled shear walls.
