This paper aims to studying the principle of selecting Korean classical literature and the list of the work in North Korean High School Textbook, 'Munhak[Literature]', By doing so, we can estimate the situation and the characteristic of North korean classical literature education.
North korean classical literature education is underestimated in comparison with other literature education. Just a few Korean classical works is included in textbook. And selected works are arranged according as North Korean literary historical order.
The choice of works in 'Munhak[Literature]' textbook is made by four definate standards; 'Juchaesong', 'Dangsong', 'Lodongguaegupsong', 'Inminsong'. The contents of most works are the criticism of the feudalistic status system, the description of popular miserable life, the resistance of the proletariat against governing class. And their theme is subject to 'Dangsong', 'Lodongguaegupsong', 'Inminsong'. In special, 'Sijo' and < Kwandongbyulgok > was chosen considering 'Juchaesong'.
The significance of this paper lies in that it gives the information of the system of North Korean classical literature education.
