The purpose of this study is to examine the aspects of disasters in this era and to explore the coordinates of disaster humanities. In particular, by diagnosing one possibility of disaster humanities exemplified by the Sewol Ferry Disaster Healing Poem, we attempted to reread the urgency of humanistic thinking about disasters. If the exploration of disasters has been centered on practical studies such as natural science, earth science, and disaster prevention, the need for humanistic reflections on the sustainability of life after disasters is emerging due to the complexity of disaster factors and the long-term nature of trauma. Generally, disasters are divided into natural disasters and social disasters, but the factors of natural disasters in the Anthropocene era are not simply caused by natural disasters. In addition, social disasters caused by complex factors are occurring frequently due to the social structural system reorganized into a capitalist system. In this situation, thinking about disasters is directly related to the issues of human survival and existence. Humanistic reflection on disasters involves critical examination of the factors that caused disasters, as well as healing trauma caused by disasters and restoring damaged human dignity. In addition, building a safety net to properly prepare for disaster situations and organizing active civic solidarity can also be considered as the domain of disaster humanities.
