일제강점기 조선체육회 주최 전 조선빙상경기대회의 역사적 의미에 관한 연구

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

A study analyze what does Joseon Ice Sports Games hosted by Joseon Athletic Association means to the development of Korean winter sports, focusing on the details of establishment and hosting of All Joseon Ice Sports Game, officials, participating players and records, donated prizes, and so on.
First, Joseon Athletic Association in Japanese Colonial Era developed with sports game and consciousness of confrontation of Joseon Olympic Committee. At this time, as Korean player Kim Sang-yong wins in the game hosted by Joseon Olympic Committee, Joseon Athletic Association felt the needs of ice sports, and taking this opportunity, All Joseon Ice Sports Games were held. All Joseon Ice Sports Game held by Korean Sports Organization in Japanese Colonial Era became the pioneer of National Winter Sports Festival (NWSF), and paved the way for development of history of Korean winter sports.
Second, in 5th All Joseon Ice Sports Game held by Joseon Athletic Association in Japanese Colonial Era, women’s game was established as extra games, and encouraged woman sports by authorizing regular championship to women players in 7th All Joseon Ice Sports Games. This reformative business became the pioneer of All Joseon Women Ice Sports held by Joseon Business Woman Association, the first women ice sports, and provided the opportunity to women ice sports.
Third, it is noticeable that All Joseon Ice Sports Games officials were similar to National Winter Festival officials in present, and this gives the assumption that All Joseon Ice Sports Game had an influence on the official organization.
Fourth, the record from ice sports game held by Joseon Athletic Association were to improve by comparing with records from games held by Japanese, or records of Japanese players. The growth in consciousness of confrontation paved the way for entering world stage to Lee Sung-duk, Kim Jung-yeon, Jang Woo-sik, and can be told as the background of historical fact that it is the first Korean entering Winter Olympics.
Fifth, unlike existing results of preceding research, the research found that the woman’s game was actually first established in 5th All Joseon Ice Sports Game, and though 8th All Joseon Ice Sports Game were planned to be held at Han River on January 23, 1932, the game was canceled because ice were melted due to the high temperature.
Sixth, as crowd controllers were formed since 5th game, they managed the crowds, and contents related to game manners were reported in the paper. This content shows that it has been organized as today’s plan of establishment of order in the arena of National Winter Sports Festival. In addition, championship flags, championship cups, and medals were awarded as the winner prize of the games, and there were donated prizes through city leaders’ donation besides these. The championship flags and cups showed the authority and symbol of All Joseon Ice Sports Game, and the donated prizes can be assumed that there was an advertising purpose along with the purpose of supporting games.
Like above, All Joseon Ice Sports Game held by Joseon Athletic Association, which was the former of Korean Olympic Committee, gave a lot of impact on prevalence and development of Korean winter sports, and became the national authoritative competition. Also, it paved the way for Korean players to enter the world stage. With these facts, All Joseon Ice Sports Game held by Joseon Athletic Association has a significant historical meaning in the development of Korean winter sports.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 조선체육회 주최 전 조선빙상경기대회의 창설 경위 및 개최, 임원 및 참가선수와 경기기록, 관중, 기증상품 등에 초점을 맞추어 전 조선빙상경기대회가 한국 동계스포츠에 어떠한 의미가 있는지 검토하였다.
첫째, 일제강점기 조선체육회는 조선체육협회의 경기대회와 대결의식을 가지면서 성장하였다. 이 시기 조선체육협회의 경기대회에서 한국의 김상용 선수가 우승하면서 조선체육회는 빙상경기의 필요성을 느끼게 되었고, 이를 계기로 전 조선빙상경기대회가 개최되었다. 일제강점기 한국인 스포츠단체 주최로 개최되었던 전 조선빙상경기대회는 전국동계체육대회의 효시이자 한국 동계스포츠사의 발전에 기틀을 마련하였다.
둘째, 일제강점기 조선체육회가 주최한 제5회 전 조선빙상경기대회에서 번외경기로 여자부를 신설하였고, 제7회 전 조선빙상경기대회에서 여자선수들에게 정규선수권을 부여하며 여성스포츠를 장려하였다. 이러한 개혁적 사업은 최초의 여자빙상경기인 조선직업부인협회 주최의 전 조선여자빙상경기대회의 효시이자 여자빙상계의 발전에 계기를 마련하였다.
셋째, 전 조선빙상경기대회의 임원은 오늘날 전국동계체육대회의 임원과 유사하다는 것을 알 수 있으며, 이것은 전 조선빙상경기대회가 전국동계체육대회의 임원구성에 영향을 주었다고 짐작하는 바이다.
넷째, 조선체육회 주최 빙상경기에서의 기록은 일본인 주최의 경기대회나 일본선수의 기록과 대조하며 향상시키고자 하였다. 이러한 대결의식 속에서의 성장은 이성덕, 김정연, 장우식 선수가 세계무대의 진출로 향하는 발판을 마련하였고, 한국인 최초의 동계 올림픽 진출이라는 역사적 사건을 만든 배경이라 할 수 있다.
다섯째, 기존의 선행연구 결과와는 다르게 실제로 제5회 전 조선빙상경기대회에서 여자부가 처음 신설되었으며, 제8회 전 조선빙상경기대회는 1932년 1월 23일 한강에서 개최하려하였으나 높은 기온의 영향으로 얼음이 녹아 경기대회가 취소된 것이라는 사실이 밝혀졌다.
여섯째, 제5회 경기대회 부터 장내정리원이 생기면서 관중들을 관리하였고, 경기 질서와 관련된 내용이 신문기사를 통해 보도되었다. 이러한 내용은 현재 전국동계체육대회의 경기장 질서 확립 계획으로 체계화되었음을 알 수 있다. 또한 경기대회의 우승상품으로 우승기와 우승배, 메달이 수여되었고, 이외에도 시내의 유지들의 기부를 통해 기증된 상품들이 있었다. 이러한 우승기와 우승배는 전 조선빙상경기대회의 권위와 상징성 나타내고 있으며, 기증상품은 대회의 후원 목적과 더불어 광고의 목적도 있었다고 짐작할 수 있다.
이상과 같이 대한체육회의 전신인 조선체육회 주최의 전 조선빙상경기대회는 한국 동계스포츠의 보급과 발전에 많은 영향을 주어 국내의 권위 있는 대회로 자리매김 하였으며, 나아가 한국 선수가 세계무대에 진출하는 발판을 마련하였다. 이러한 사실에서 조선체육회 주최의 전 조선빙상경기대회는 한국 동계스포츠 발전에 있어 중요한 역사적 의미를 갖는다고 할 수 있다.
