Recently, using of circular hollow section(CHS) is increasing because its structural advantage in long-span structure and high-rise building. However, research of CHS structure is insufficient in spite of widespread use. The behavior of CHS connection is very complex due to local deformation. Especially, in case of CHS-plate connection, to predict the ultimate strength is not simple matter since the load deflection curve does not show consistency. Therefore, in this study, experiments and FEA was carried out to determining the ultimate strength is according to proposed ultimate deformation limit. Finally reasonable ultimate strength formular was proposed through the comparisons with other design guide.
