The purpose of this study is to analyze the middle grades students' scientific inquiry capability to improve the prediction and reasoning. For this study, based on previous study, the education curriculum with teacher's guide check list ,which is diagnosable explicit instruction ,was made out. Located in Gyeonggi province, biology pre-service teachers who is from college of education, graduate school of education and Biology in-service teachers. First of all, to analyze the difficulties of the preparation of demonstration lessons which is applied prediction and reasoning. On two separate occasions, teaching-learning process has to be modified and supplemented. Based on these demonstrations, we've analyzed in depth through two times teaching demonstrations if there is any difficulties in teaching demonstration process. In addition, preparation for teaching demonstration lessons for before and two times after the demonstrations to fill out a reflective journal and whether there is any change of awareness has been conducted in-depth analysis. The findings, in terms of teaching-learning process for creating which prediction are applied, there were difficulties in presenting the importance of the expected, the expected operational opportunities, in the process of demonstration lessons, and the group operational prediction opportunities to students to have access directly. There were huge difficulties to give the opportunities to students to have access directly. while the group who got the application of a inference research function, is presented the importance of reasoning. But there were difficulties to be presented separately between the expected and the reasoning. At the conclusion, through explicit teaching demonstration which is application of the scientific exploration of the function elements there were aware of changes in prediction and reasoning. Based on the results of this study, when the explicit instruction which is for improving the scientific inquiry progress for high school students is going on, through the difficulties which were appeared in the demonstration reasons. I expect to be more profitably and be designed in the science instruction.
