일반논문 : 설문조사를 통해 본 EPS-TOPIK 발전 방안 = A Proposal for the Development of EPS-TOPIK Based on the Questionnaires

국문 초록 (Abstract)

EPS-TOPIK은 유능한 외국인 근로자를 선발하기 위한 국가 차원의 한국어능력 평가 도구이다. 따라서 한국어 능력 평가 도구로서의 타당도와 신뢰도, 실용도가 확보되어야 한다. 이를 위해 이 논문에서는 ‘고용허가제’ 제도하에 한국에서 취업하기를 희망하는 외국인들에게 현지에서 한국어를 가르치고 있는 세종학당 소속 한국어 교사들과 EPS-TOPIK에 합격하여 한국에서 일을 하고 있는 외국인 근로자들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시한 후 이를 바탕으로 EPS-TOPIK의 발전 방안을 제안하였다. 설문 결과에 따르면 예상했던 대로 현지에서 이루어지고 있는 한국어 교육 환경은 여러면에서 열악하여 외국인 근로자들의 한국어의사소통 능력을 제고하는 데는 물론 EPS-TOPIK을 준비하는 데도 적합하지 못한 실정이다. 또한 외국인 근로자들은 효율적인 한국어 교재와 시험 준비를 위한 각종 자료를 필요로 하고, 시험의 난이도를 포함하여 여러 면에서 EPS-TOPIK이 개선되어야 하는 것으로 생각하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. EPS-TOPIK의 효용성을 제고하고, 외국인 근로자의 한국어 의사소통능력을 제고하기 위해서는 한국어 교육을 담당하고 있는 세종학당을 포함한 한국어 교육 기관과 외국 인력을 총괄하는 한국산업인력공단이 긴밀히 협력하고, 이들을 위한 다양한 형태의 교재가 개발되어 보급되어야 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

EPS-TOPIK is a test of Korean proficiency which is enforced at the level of Korean government for the selection of competent foreign workers. Therefore, it must ensure validity and reliability, and practicability as a language assessment tool. To present a suggestion for achieving these goals, in this paper, questionnaires have been conducted to the foreign workers who have come to Korea under the scheme of "Employment Permit System" after taking EPS-TOPIK, and Korean teachers teaching in the King Sejong Institute which is run by the connection with the Human Recourses Development Service of Korea. Based on the survey results, some proposals are suggested for the development of EPS-TOPIK, and for the enhancement of Korean language proficiency of foreign workers. According to the survey results, as expected, the local environment of Korean education is poor in a number of ways to improve the Korean communication skills of foreign workers, as well as to prepare the EPS-TOPIK. In addition, it is shown that foreign workers need effective Korean language textbooks and other materials for the preparation of EPS-TOPIK, and that EPS-TOPIK be improved in a number of ways, including the difficulty of the test. To improve the efficiency of the EPS-TOPIK and to enhance the Korean communication skills of foreign workers, the Korean language institutions including the King Sejong Institute, which are in charge of the Korean language education should closely cooperate with the Human Resources Development Service of Korea, which is responsible for all of the influx of foreign workers. It is also suggested that various types of useful teaching materials are developed, and distributed efficiently.
