This study was carried out to confirm the existence of DPAOs in anaerobic-anoxic zone, investigate P uptake amount in anoxic zone using PHA stored and find out the rate of P uptake/ P release according to the variation of influent COD loading.
Influent wastewater was divided into two classes, the 1st and 2nd influent, in order to minimize the effect of NO3- in anaerobic tank.
The characteristics of NH3, SP in the 1st influent were 20mg/L, 6mg/L and NO3^(-) in the 2nd influent were 20mg/L and those of COD in the 1st's were 300, 150, 50mg/L as case Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ respectively.
The results were concluded as follows:
1) COD removed amount of DPAOs in caseⅠ~Ⅲ was 1545.60, 347.0, 396.72mg/day separately. And the intake amount that is of DPAOs that use this by carbon source showed by 447.48, -0.48 -10.00mg/day
2) The rate of P uptake/ P release in case Ⅰ~Ⅲ was 1.12, 0.09, 0.76 respectively.
3) In conclusion, the optimum concentration of influent COD can be defined
300mg/L. Aactivity of DPAOs could that become dull than activity of GAOs under 150mg/L COD concentration.
