This research aims to explore the ways to improve Koreans’ intercultural communication behavior. The research was planned to explain Koreans’ intention to participate in intercultural communication with psychological factor (Intercultural Willingness to Communicate, IWTC), situational factor (Foreigners’ nationality: American, Korean Chinese (chosunjok), Indonesian), and the interaction effect between psychological factor and situational factor (IWTC × Foreigners’ nationality: American, Korean Chinese (chosunjok), Indonesian). A Survey experiment was conducted, and data from 654 Korean participants were gathered. First, psychological factor could explain Koreans’ intention to participate in Intercultural communication. Koreans with higher level of IWTC exposed higher probability to engage in intercultural communication. Individuals’ Intercultural Communication Apprehension and their understanding of injunctive norm regarding to intercultural communication could affect the level of individuals’ IWTC. Next, situational factor could partially explain Koreans’ intention to participate in intercultural communication. Koreans appears to have relatively positive attitude when they met Americans as a communication counterpart compared to the situation when they met Korean Chinese (chosunjok). Lastly, the interaction effect between psychological factor and situational factor could not explain Koreans’ intention to participate in intercultural communication. This was discussed in the conclusion.
