언어습득의 기초 : 인지론적 접근 A cognitive approach = The Basis of Language Acquisition

국문 초록 (Abstract)

어린아이는 완전한 언어를 가지고 태어나는 것이 아니라 언어를 습득할 수 있는 능력을 가지고 태어난다. 더우기 어린아이는 어느 한 언어가 쓰여지고 있는 환경에 태어나며 그 아이가 능숙하게 되는 언어는 부모가 사용하는 그 특정한 언어이다. 그러므로 언어 혹은 언어체계에 대한 생물학적으로 주어진 능력의 적응이 어린아이에게 있어서의 언어발달에 이르게 되는 것이다. 그런데 우리는 어린아이가 생후 약 18개월까지 단어나 단어와 비슷한 소리를 사용하기 시작지 않는다는 것을 안다. 어린아이가 도대체 그때까지 무엇을 하는 것인가? 그저 빈둥거리고만 있는 것일까? 신중히 말해서 태어나서 1년 반이 될 때까지 무엇이 어린아이로 하여금 말을 시작토록 하지 않는 것일까? 아마도 입을 열어 말할 준비가 그때까지 되지 않는 것이리라. 그러나 만약 그것이 사실이라면 생후 1년 반동안 일어나는 어떤 것들이 어린아이로 하여금 말을 시작하도록 준비하여 주는 것인가? 이 연구는 그 질문을 Piaget의 체제안에서 대답해보려고 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The neonate does not come with a fully-blossomed language in its mouth; rather, the neonate is born with an ability to acquire mastery over language. Further, the neonate is born in a language using environment and it is the particular language of a set of parents that the child will come proficient in. Thus, the adaptation of the biologically given ability to a language or linguistic system leads to the development in the child. And yet, we know tha ta child does not begin to use words or word-like sounds until after eighteen months. What has the child been doing all that time? Loafing? Seriously, what makes babies not to begin 'talking' until after a year and one-half? Perhaps they are not ready to start shooting their mouths; but if that is the case, what is it or what are the things tha happen during the first year and half that prepare them to begin the talking? This paper aims at answering the very question in the Piagetian framework.
