자립준비청년의 원가정 관계 경험에 관한 연구 = A study on the relational experiences with family of origin among youth aging-out from out-of-home care

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 자립준비청년의 원가정과의 관계 경험을 심층적으로 분석하여, 향후 이들의 원가정과의 관계 연결 혹은 단절을 위한 정책적 개선방안의 모색을 위해 수행되었다. 이를 위해 보호종료로 퇴소한 지 5년 이내의 자립준비청년 당사자 7명을 모집하여 개별심층면담을 진행하였다. 수집된 자료의 분석은 Colaizzi의 현상학적 분석 방법을 통해 수행되었다. 분석결과, 4개의 범주, 9개의 하위범주, 18개의 의미단위로 도출되었다. 원가정과의 단절 계기 경험은 <원가정과의 분리로 관계가 끊어진다.>로, 보호대상아동으로 시설에서의 원가정 관계 경험은 <시설에서 연결과 단절을 다시 경험하다>로, 보호종료된 자립준비청년으로서의 원가정 관계 경험은 <홀로서기를 맞아 선택의 기로에 서다>로, 보호종료 전후에 원가정 관계에 대한 지원 경험은 <자립준비청년의 꿈에는 날개가 필요하다> 등으로 도출되었다. 이와 같은 연구 결과를 바탕으로 아동이 분리될 때부터 원가정에 대한 관계 회복 또는 단절을 포함한 종합적인 계획이 수립될 필요가 있음이 제시되었다. 또한, 가정외보호 아동이 시설에서 생활하는 동안에 원가정과의 관계에 대한 지원에 우선순위가 부여되어야 하는 점, 시설에서의 원가정 복귀 지원 실무가 더 체계적이고 구체적으로 이행되어야 하는 점, 시설 퇴소 이후의 원가정 관계 지원은 법적 근거를 가지고 충분히 제공되어야 하는 점을 제안하였다. 본 연구는 원가정으로부터 분리된 보호대상아동이 보호종료를 맞아 자립하는 자립준비청년이 되기까지 원가정과의 단절과 연결 경험을 자세히 살펴보고 그 경험의 의미를 분석함으로써 자립준비청년이 고유한 인격체로서 자립할 수 있는 지원을 위한 정책 개선 방안을 제안하였다는 데에 의의가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study analyzed the relationship experiences of Youth Aging-out from Out-of-Home care (YAOH) with their families of origin. It aimed to explore policy improvements for fostering or discontinuing connections between YAOH and their families of origin. This study conducted in-depth interviews with seven individuals who had aged-out of protective custody within the past five years. Data analysis was performed using Colaizzi’s phenomenological method, involving the transcription and textual analysis of participants’ recorded interviews.
As a result, 4 categories, 9 subcategories, and 18 meaning units were derived. The experience of separation from the family of origin was categorized as “Severing Relationships through Separation from the family of origin”, and the experience of the relationships with the family of origin during out-of-home care was categorized as “Experiencing Connections and Disconnections again in the out-of-home cares”, and the experience of the relationship with the family of origin as YAHO preparing to stand alone was categorized as “Standing at the crossroads of choosing to stand alone”, and the experience of support for the relationship with the family of origin before and after YAHO was categorized as “Wings are Needed for the Dreams of YAOH”.
Based on the findings of this study, it is recommended that a comprehensive plan for supporting the relationship with the family of origin should be formulated from the point of a child’s separation. While a priority should be given to supporting the relationship with the family of origin during the period of out-of-home care, practical support for the reunification with the family of origin should also be more systematically and concretely implemented. In addition, some discharge support structures for the relationship with the family of origin should be adequately provided for the YAHO, grounded within appropriate legal and program provisions. This study holds significance in proposing policy improvements to support YAOH as unique individuals capable of independence by closely examining the disconnection and connection with the origin family for children separated from their homes, subject to protection, as they transition to independence following the termination of protective custody.
