This paper studied the intertextuality and interdiscoursivity between the public service advertisements about birth control and the public service advertisements about childbirth encouragement. With the framework of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), the public service advertisements about family planning were analysed in this paper. In Section Ⅰ, the purpose and necessity for this study were proposed. In Section Ⅱ, theoretical basis and methods of CDA which were adopted in this study were introduced. In Section Ⅲ and Ⅳ, with the methods introduced in Section Ⅱ, we studied 1980’s birth control and 2000’s childbirth encouragement public services advertisements, respectively.
