박물관에서 실물기반학습 사례 연구 : 울산박물관을 중심으로 = A critical review of object-based learning and generic learning outcomes in museum education in Korea

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 박물관 교육이 보편화된 현 시점에서 실제 박물관 교육을 실천하고 있는 현장에서 행해지고 있는 교육프로그램에 대한 반성적 고찰을 시도하였다. 먼저 실물을 기반으로 하는 교육이 가장 핵심인 박물관 교육에서 실제 사용되고 있는 실물의 종류들을 살펴 본 다음 실물의 종류에 따른 교육의 효과여부에 대하여 살펴보았다. 교육의 실천 현장에서 사용되는 실물은 소위 박물관의 진품 유물 혹은 전시물은 지극히 제한적인 범위에서 교육의 자료로 활용되었는데 이는 전시 관람, 혹은 전시장 내 유물관찰을 말하는 것이다. 다음으로 실제 유물을 그대로 만든 모형품, 혹은 선사시대 유물을 기반으로 현대적 상상력을 가미한 재현품 등이 실제 사용되었는데 이때 학생들의 역사적인 사실획득에 가장 기여하는 것으로는 실물의 종류가 아니라 학생들이 교육과정에서 어떠한 행위를 하였느냐와 직결되었다. 다음으로 영국에서 개발한 Generic Learning Outcomes (포괄적 학습결과)의 다섯 가지 범주를 본고에서 분석한 프로그램의 설문결과에 적용하여, 실제 학생들은 박물관 교육을 통하여 역사적인 인식의 제고 뿐 아니라 개별적인 의미부여를 통하여 자신만의 의미 만들기가 가능하다는 것을 확인하였다. 즉 박물관교육 이후 실시되는 설문지의 주관식 답변을 단순한 결과로서만 보는 것이 아니라 아동들에게 어떠한 영향을 끼칠 수 있는가의 효용성에 대한 이론적인 접근을 시도하였다. 이연구결과를 바탕으로 한국만의 GLO 를 개발할 수 있기를 기대한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This work mainly argues the effectiveness of museum education in Korean museums. Based on the four different programmes which were created by curators, the work tries to identify what the objects means in terms of museum education in real. It has been revealed that, the objects, in terms of the museum education, can be various from the real artefacts, replicas and creative but historical reproduction. Interestingly, what affects to the effectiveness of the education is not the object itself but the experience which the pupils has had during the education. Also, this work provisionally tries to analyse the outcomes of the learning from those who attended the programmes, using the UK’s eminent theory of Generic Learning Outcomes produced by University of Leicester(RCMG) and Museums, Libraries and Archives Council(MLA). It can be worth noting that the GLO may not suggest the direct effectiveness of museum education but rather it could help Korean researchers to plan a glimpse of prospective research on the museum education in Korea.
