아동학대행위자의 심리사회적 특성 및 유형화 연구 = Subgroups and psychosocial characteristics among child abuse perpetrators in Korea

국문 초록 (Abstract)

아동학대사건의 개입과정과 피해자 지원과정 전반에서 학대행위자들에 대한 개입은 중요하다. 실제로 한국아동학대 연구들은 그간 재학대 발생과 관련된 요인들로 대부분 학대행위자 관련 요인들을 지목해왔다. 그러나 우리사회에서 학대행위자들에 대한 개입의 기초정보가 되는 그들의 심리사회적 특성 및 유형화에 대한 논의는 절대적으로 부족한 편이다. 특히, 여러 학대행위자들 중 아동보호전문기관에 연루되어 아동보호서비스의 직접적 대상이 되는 학대행위자들에 대한 연구는 더욱 제한되어 있다. 이에 본 연구는 아동학대판정을 받아 아동보호전문기관에서 사례가 진행 중이거나 사법기관에 연루되어 있는 아동학대행위자들을 대상으로 연구를 수행하였다. 구체적으로, 임상진단영역에서 범용성과 타당성을 인정받은 척도를 활용하여, 학대행위자들의 특성을 다양한 집단들과 비교하고, 프로파일 분석을 통해 학대행위자 하위유형을 탐색하였다. 연구결과, 아동학대행위자들은 남녀 학대행위자 간에 심리사회적 특성에서 중요한 차이가 관찰되었으며 표준화된 척도를 통해 일반인 집단과 비교했을 때, 소득수준이나 정신건강, 문제음주, 가정폭력 경험 수준등에서 차이를 보였다. 또한 학대행위자들에게는 인구사회학적 특성 및 정신 · 행동건강 수준을 바탕으로 한 세 집단의 프로파일집단이 존재했으며, 이들 집단 중 전반적 심각도와 문제음주 비율 및 신체학대의 피 · 가해 경험비율이 높은 남성 학대행위자 집단이 특징적인 면모를 보였다. 본 연구는 이와 같은 결과를 바탕으로 정책적 · 실천적 함의 등을 논의하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Research has been lacking on the subgroups of perpetrators and their psychosocial characteristics in Korea. In particular, little is known about perpetrators involved in child protective services. This area is an essential part of, and has much potential to provide insights for, developing effective intervention programs for perpetrators. The objectives of this study were to examine the psychosocial characteristics of perpetrators using standardized measures and to explore subgroups of perpetrators based on profile analysis. To meet these objectives, standardized measures were administered, and latent class analysis (LCA) was conducted. The participants were 158 child abuse perpetrators, who were involved with child protective services and/or probation offices. The results of this study were as follows. First, we found that the perpetrators had higher levels of mental health symptoms and alcohol problems than the norm group. However, these statistics were lower than those of the patient groups. Second, LCA yielded three different profile groups: high-risk male perpetrator group, low-risk perpetrator group, and female perpetrator group. These three subgroups of perpetrators showed different psychosocial profiles in terms of their childhood maltreatment experiences, current parenting stress, and the use of parental discipline behaviors. While the perpetrators showed higher rates of problems than the general public, the symptom levels were not as serious as those of the patients. Based on the results, translational principles for developing effective prevention and intervention programs for child abuse perpetrators were discussed.
