디지털 트랜스포메이션과 ESG 경영의 통합 추진을 위한 모델 개발에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Development of an Integrated Implementation Model for Digital Transformation and ESG Management

국문 초록 (Abstract)

ESG 경영은 환경, 사회 및 거버넌스 요인을 고려하여 기업 경영을 추진하는 것을 의미하며 디지털 트랜스포메이션은 단순히 기존 업무의 자동화나 디지털화를 넘어서 업무 자체의 본질과 가치 창출 방식의 혁신적 변화를 추진한다.
따라서 디지털 트랜스포메이션은 기업이 ESG 목표를 달성하고 지속가능한 비즈니스 관행을 구현하는 데 도움이 될 수 있으며 디지털 트랜스포메이션과 ESG 경영은 기업의 지속가능성과 성장을 위해 상호 보완적인 관계를 맺고 있다.
이러한 관계는 디지털 트랜스포메이션과 ESG 경영 통합 추진의 시너지를 극대화하여 기업의 자원을 효율적으로 활용 하고, 중복 투자를 방지함으로써 기업의 지속가능한 경영 성과를 향상시킬 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 디지털 트랜스포메이션과 ESG 경영의 통합 추진을 위한 모델을 개발하기 위하여 우선적으로 양쪽이 연계된 비즈니스 프로세스 리엔 지니어링(BPR)의 추진을 제안하였다. 이는 ESG 경영을 추진하기 위하여 다양한 데이터의 수집, 분석, 그리고 의사결정 과정이 디지털 트랜스포메이션 기술과 유기적으로 통합되어야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 K-ESG 가이드라인에서 제시한 각각의 ESG 경영목표를 분석하고 이에 대응하는 적합한 디지털 트랜스포메이션 기술들을 전문가 인터뷰 및 선행 연구 결과를 통하여 도출하였다. K-ESG 가이드라인은 ESG 수준 자가 진단을 통해 ESG 성과 향상을 위한 개선과제 도출 및 목표에 의한 성과관리가 가능하다는 점에서 유용한 ESG 진단체계라고 할 수 있다. 디지털 트랜스포메이션과 ESG 경영의 통합 추진을 위하여 K-ESG 가이드라인을 기반으로 모델을 개발한 결과 기업들은 ESG 경영의 성과 향상과 디지털 혁신을 동시에 추진할 수 있는 통합모델을 활용하여 중복 투자나 시행착오를 줄일 수 있으며 기업의 다양한 자원을 효율적으로 활용할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 구체적이며 실행 가능한 새로운 연구모델을 개발하여 연구자 및 기업에게 실무 및 학술적인 차원에서 시사점을 제공한다.

ESG management refers to corporate management that takes into account environmental, social, and governance factors, while digital transformation goes beyond the mere automation or digitization of existing tasks to drive an innovative change in the essence of work and the way value is created. Therefore, digital transformation can help companies achieve ESG goals and implement sustainable business practices, establishing a complementary relationship between digital transformation and ESG management for corporate sustainability and growth. This relationship maximizes the synergy of integrating digital transformation with ESG management, enabling companies to utilize resources efficiently and prevent redundant investments, ultimately enhancing sustainable management performance.
In this study, we propose the simultaneous promotion of business process reengineering (BPR), in which both digital transformation and ESG management are integrated. This is because the collection, analysis, and decision-making processes related to various data for promoting ESG management must be organically integrated with digital transformation technologies. Therefore, we analyzed each ESG management objective presented in the K-ESG guidelines and identified the corresponding digital transformation technologies through expert interviews and a review of prior research. The K-ESG guidelines serve as a useful ESG diagnostic system that enables companies to identify improvement tasks and manage performance based on goals through self-assessment of ESG levels. By developing a model based on the K-ESG guidelines for the integrated promotion of digital transformation and ESG management, companies can simultaneously improve ESG performance and drive digital innovation, reducing redundant investments and trial-and-error while utilizing diverse resources efficiently. This study provides practical and academic implications by developing a concrete and actionable new research model for researchers and businesses.
